The Opal Guards is an up-and-coming winter guard ensemble based in Southeast Michigan. Founded on the belief that through polishing progress, brilliance is revealed, our program is committed to educating, supporting, and inspiring students through the art of winter guard.
We believe that every performer has the potential to shine. By focusing on growth at every level, we help members develop not only their technical abilities, but also confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of teamwork.
What Is Winter Guard?
Winter guard is an indoor performance activity that blends dance, equipment work, and music to tell meaningful stories. Performers train and compete during the winter season, showcasing athleticism, artistry, and emotional expression in a supportive team environment.
At The Opal Guards, members learn flag, rifle, sabre, and movement skills while growing as performers and collaborators.
